DadsDivorce LIVE: Dad Bloggers Petition Amazon

Over the past few weeks, there has been a growing online movement led by a community of dad bloggers to petition Amazon to change the name of its parent-focused discount program “Amazon Mom” to “Amazon Family.”

Many of the fathers involved are dedicating the cause to the memory of Oren Miller, a popular dad blogger who recently died after a battle with lung cancer. Amazon calls the service “Amazon Family” in the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, and Japan. The dads argue that the retail giant needs to change the name in the U.S. to fit with the changing image of fatherhood that involves more active and involved fathers.

Although Amazon has yet to publicly respond to the petition, it has exploded in recent weeks and is nearing 10,000 signatures.

One of the dads involved in the movement is Matt Schneider, who co-founded the City Dads Group and hosts the Modern Dads Podcast. Mr. Schneider joined DadsDivorce LIVE to discuss the origins of the petition and its significance, and to explain what City Dads Group offers fathers.
