NY killer requests child visitation rights

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A woman behind bars for killing her mother in a child custody dispute has asked a court in New York City’s northern suburbs to allow her visits with her young daughter.

Anne Trovato has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the 2006 killing of Ossining resident Patricia Mery. Trovato has filed a petition to allow her 5-year-old daughter, Arianna, to visit her at the state prison in Bedford Hills.

Trovato and her mother were in a custody battle over Arianna when Mery was murdered.

The girl’s father has custody and is seeking to block Trovato’s visitation rights. Ron Kerner only learned he was the father when police investigated Mery’s slaying.

A hearing in a White Plains court on Wednesday was adjourned until next month.
