Question:
My second wife and I are going through a divorce and are beginning to divide property.
My first wife left me a piece of property that is in both of our names, but I make all the payments.
Is my second wife entitled to property left to me from a previous marriage?
Answer:
I am unable to give you legal advice on divorce. I can give general divorce help for men, though, my knowledge is based on Minnesota divorce laws where I am licensed to practice.
Generally, your second wife will not be entitled to any property left to another ex-wife in a previous divorce settlement.
However, if you received any interest in the property as part of the property settlement from your ex-wife, then your second wife will be likely entitled to a portion of the property you received in the divorce settlement from your first wife.
