I am looking for divorce lawyers for men who can help me with an out-of-state action.
I live several states away from my children and my ex-wife, and I am having a hard time finding proper representation in that state because I live so far away.
What are options for legal representation when you live in another state from where the matter is taking place?
I am unable to give you legal advice on divorce. I can give general divorce help for men, though, my knowledge is based on Georgia divorce laws where I am licensed to practice.
Regarding obtaining representation in an out-of-state action, you can always contact the state bar association for divorce lawyers for men referral services and information.
To obtain counsel in the state your children live in, you should contact a mens divorce attorney licensed in that state. A mens divorce lawyer who is properly licensed in that jurisdiction will be familiar with the laws of that state and your respective legal rights. However, you obviously will not have the option of meeting face-to-face with your attorney on a regular basis.
There is also the option of retaining an attorney in the state you live in that is willing to represent you in the out-of-state matter.
With this option you would be able to have physical interaction with your divorce lawyer, but your attorney would have to request authorization from the court in which this case is pending in order to represent you in another state. Your divorce lawyer may also have to seek co-counsel that is licensed to practice law in the state the matter is taking place.
Remember, I am unable to provide you with anything more than divorce tips for men, so please consult with divorce lawyers for men in your jurisdiction.
