A divorce is an extremely personal matter for family and not everyone needs to know the details about your breakup. However, it might be a good idea to let your children’s teachers know that there has been a major change in the home.
In a recent survey by VitalSmarts, 94% of teachers surveyed said they think it’s important for parents to tell them of a divorce or other rupture in the marriage, but only 23% of divorcing parents surveyed said they disclose that information. That communication disconnect could negatively affect how your children perform in school.
David Maxfield, who co-authored the survey, explains why it is important to keep teachers in the loop about your divorce and gives tips on how to establish effective communication methods.
